Beastieball League
The Beastieball League is responsible for all the logistics of the massive scale and sport-ified form of Beastieball. It handles the Rank system and the Crown Series, and logistics such as the construction of stadiums. It has been criticized for its sponsor-oriented approach, as well as its ecologically insensitive approach.
The Beastieball League is chairmanned by the Sports King, who also serves as its ideas guy/self-proclaimed visionary. Its headquarters are located in Geo City.
Ranked Coaches
TODO. ranked coaches are when the coaches are ranked. i might actually make "ranked coach" redirect here, so i better do a good job of it. briefly explain ranked matches/rank here. mention Herbert here. mention some known ranked coaches here. mention that most towns have a ranked coach representing them.
Crown Series
The Beastieball League is also responsible for hosting the Crown Series, in which the top 100-ranked coaches, provided they have a platinum sponsor, can compete to become champion. Ranks 100 through 4 play a number of matches against each other, with the number of matches each has to complete seeded by their rank, and the victor of that challenges the top three coaches.
Valerie Stride is the 7-time reigning Crown Series champion, putting her team the Radical Queens a single championship away from breaking the record.
The Crown Series is hosted in the Crown Stadium in Geo City. Neptune Stadium was built with plans to have it become the new Crown Series location, but those plans fell through alongside its construction.
Other Endeavours
The Beastieball League has been responsible for various other endeavours that pertain to the logistics of running a sport at a very large scale. Many of these endeavours also demonstrate the harm that this large, impassive scale inflicts.
Sponsorships
Crown Series participants require a platinum sponsor, and presumably some of the money from sponsorships (possibly of all levels) goes to funding the League. In turn, the League also directly or indirectly funds some sponsorships, such as by funding the Beastie Research Society.
Ball Manufacturing
Main Article: Crown Farms
The Beastieball League manufactures their own balls for professional play, rather than using ball shrooms. Initial plans, close to the League's founding, were to make these balls out of inorganic rubber, but when the Beastie Research Society raised concerns about pollution, they changed to natural rubber produced from trees.
However, in order to obtain this rubber at that scale, the League deforested a substantial area of Beastie habitat, particularly impacting Jellibat and Froofulks, to create Crown Farms.

Additionally, the lessened use of wild ball shrooms has been detrimental to the health of the entire mycelial network, almost certainly causing the Rowdy Beastie phenomenon.
Neptune Stadium
Main Article: Neptune Stadium
The Beastieball League planned to create a floating, travelling stadium to host the Crown Series in, which would also double as a luxury cruise liner. Construction was started on this stadium, but aquatic Beasties considered it a threat and it was attacked by Beasties like Tortanchor enough that its construction was abandoned. Neptune Stadium is currently beached on a section of reef and/or sandbar towards the south end of the Chroma Sea.
...another stadium
The Beastieball League plans to build a new stadium in Rutile in an attempt to reinvigorate/draw attention to/draw profit out of a town that does not have the Beastieball prowess to fight it, specifically planning to build this stadium in Rutile Nature Preserve, a protected area of important Beastie habitat for Beasties such as Sprecko.
Preventing this from happening is the main plot of the game.
Story Significance
TODO summarize the whole story with regards to league-related parts. you gotta get the league's attention to stop the stadium from being built on the preserve. sports king is like wow this looks like a sports anime protagonist if i've ever seen one, if you win i'll stop the stadium. you defeat various ranked coaches, get sponsored by the BRS, go to league HQ (also Herbert is your league representative/guy who knows what paperwork you need to fill out),
SPOILER WARNING This section contains endgame spoilers for Beastieball! Consider yourself warned. |

find that Marlin did file the paperwork to approve the project before he realized there was a chance of stopping it/having a chance as a town without it and sports king's lackadaisical sports king-ness means he did not file the paperwork to stop it, enter the crown series, someone forfeits in the match against Valerie Stride and the sports king throws a hissy fit, everyone gets mad at the league and it loses a lot of its authority.
