Beastieball Playtest Showdown

The Beastieball Playtest Showdown was the first ever official Beastieball tournament, and was held on October 20th, 2024, during the October 2024 Closed Playtest.

The Playtest Showdown was an invitational tournament, with 8 players competing in a single-elimination bracket. (Many other players were invited, but did not play due to time conflicts or were backups.) The first two rounds were held Best of 3, with the finals being Best of 5.

As this tournament was held during a Playtest, players had access to a limited pool of Beasties and resources. Importantly, all Beasties were limited to level 30, many fully metamorphed forms were unavailable, and players had access to only two Spa salts and one starter Beastie per save file, limiting team possibilities. The tournament was also held at the end of the one week playtest period, limiting the players' prep time.

Winner

The tournament was won by Ket, coach of the Lonesome Lovers, with a decisive 3-0 victory in the finals. The team was built around Broslidon, the Beastie with the highest base stat total available in the Playtest, alongside healing from Rhythm, Rumpus, and Refresh to keep it healthy. Cherrily and Diggum acted as pure support, with Hopsong and Surgus able to fill support roles or act as backup attackers if necessary.
