- Each of Dominic's Beastie's names are a reference to an athlete considered one of the "Greatest of All Time".
- Bo is in reference to Bo Jackson, a multi-sport athlete who was named an All Star in both the MLB and the NFL. While playing American Football, he wore the number 34.
- Jordan is in reference to Michael Jordan. Jordan iconically wore the number 23 during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
- Serena is in reference to Serena Willians. 1998 is considered the year Serena "broke through" to truly become one of the greatest tennis athletes of all time.
- Gretzky is in reference to Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky iconically wore the number 99.
- Ali is in reference to Muhammad Ali. 56 refers to Ali's total career wins.
- Additionally, a team of coached Beasties in Domain Park shares Dominic's team's naming scheme and may belong to him.
- Biles (#16) the Magpike is in reference to Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history. #16 might refer to the 2016 Olympics, at which Biles won her first four Olympic gold medals.
- Crosby (#87) the Beetlback is in reference to Sidney Crosby, a Canadian ice hockey player. 87 was Crosby's jersey number.
- Agassi (#96) the Debugly is in reference to Andre Agassi, a former No. 1 ranked tennis player. Agassi won gold in the men's singles category in the 1996 Olympics.
- Bo-bae (#12) the Trat is in reference to Ki Bo-bae, a recurve archer and three-time Olympic gold medalist. 2012 was Bo-bae's first appearance at the Olympics, at which she won two medals.
